We are currently underway with our qualifying rounds for the 27th W? Trivia Tournament of Champions! Starting September 21, we’ll take the top SIX scores you earn at your venue of choice (find your favorite venue to compete at here) over ten weeks (your lowest four scores will be dropped).
First held in June, 2011 at The Cubby Bear, Whaddayaknow?’s TOC has been held twice a year, hosting hundreds of Chicago’s elite trivia players vying for thousands of dollars. We’re excited to host our 27th event, with incredible prizes, including $2,000 CASH for first place, $1000 for second and $500 for third. Past winners include Weird Tuesdays, Pop Pop in the Attic and the Wolverines – all of whom took home massive prizes and were able to receive the coveted Stan Ferns Cup along with their prize. Like the Stanley Cup, every winner gets permanently engraved so their legacy can live through all future tournaments. Can you unseat our latest winner?
A truly historic trophy in the trivia world
Over 100 teams are expected to attend, with the top 25 teams earning prizes from venues across the city, all while testing their knowledge with Chicagoland’s best trivia (and Chicagoland’s best trivia hosts). It’s the perfect way to spend a winter Saturday, with food, drink, and festivities with friends and foes alike (or, at least, trivia teams that you want to defeat).
And speaking of festivities, nothing brings people together like the high stakes of playing the best trivia event in the nation among peerless peers and friends.
With high stakes and challenging questions, the event tests every team to their limit. But it’s about more than just the trivia. Teams can win additional prizes with our unique music bingo held during the event and there’s plenty of opportunity to mingle with the competition.
Once our winners are announced, there are still prizes to be won. Specifically, our Plus Sized Wheatleys Cup, given to the most “spirited” team, most recently given out to Löded Diper. How did they come away with this championship belt? Well, with Chicago’s best karaoke of course.
That’s because we follow up the nation’s best, most exciting trivia event with the best afterparty in town. Hosts and players can mingle while keeping the festivities going, celebrating the winners and, yes, taking part in some good old-fashioned karaoke (Eve 6’s Inside Out is almost guaranteed to make an appearance).
If you’ve been to a tournament of champions, you’ll know what to expect. Engaging questions, a lively atmosphere, friends (both old and new), celebrations and fun. Remember, your top six scores over this 10 week period are counted, so there’s still a chance to make the cut and take part in what is sure to be an epic day of trivia, music, bingo and fun!
