Thank you to all the teams who came out to this summer’s W? Tournament of Champions XXVIII. As always, TOC day was filled with good food and drinks, laughs with friends, and questions that tested us all!

A huge congratulations to Sayonara Sarcoma on their hard-earned win. The infamous Stan Fearns Trophy will find itself at their home venue, Beck’s Chicago, until TOC XXIX this winter, to be held on February 6, 2027!

Who is Most Spirited?

Another congratulations goes to Löded Diaper for their third time in a row winning the most spirited team. This means that the Plus Sized Wheatleys Cup will remain with them after their showstopping performance of Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen. 

We’d be remiss if we didn’t also congratulate team MAT as runner ups, just 3 points behind, for their iconic performance of 1985. You can bet you’ll be seeing some highlights on social media soon!

The Whaddayaknow? Free Pub Trivia Tournament of Champions: the coolest, most anticipated, funnest bar trivia out there!

First held in June, 2011 at The Cubby Bear, Whaddayaknow?’s TOC has been held twice a year, hosting hundreds of Chicago’s elite trivia players vying for thousands of dollars. We’re excited to host our 29th event this winter, with more incredible prizes, including $2,000 CASH for first place, $1000 for second and $500 for third. Past winners include Weird Tuesdays, Pop Pop in the Attic and the Wolverines – all of whom took home massive prizes and were able to receive the coveted Stan Fearns Cup along with their prize. Like the Stanley Cup, every winner gets permanently engraved so their legacy can live through all future tournaments. Can you unseat our latest winner?

Around 200 teams are expected to attend, with the top 25 teams earning prizes from venues across the city, and Chicagoland suburbs! It’s a perfect Chicago winter Saturday, with food, drink, and fun with friends and foes alike (or, at least, trivia teams that you want to defeat).

With high stakes and challenging questions, the event tests every team to their limit. But it’s about more than just the trivia. Teams can win additional prizes with our unique music bingo held during the event and there’s plenty of opportunity to mingle with the competition.

Once our winners are announced, there are still prizes to be won. Specifically, our Plus Sized Wheatleys Cup, given to the most “spirited” team, most recently given out to Löded Diper. How did they come away with this iconic title yet again? Well, with Chicago’s best karaoke of course.

That’s because we follow up the nation’s best, most exciting trivia event with the best afterparty in town. Hosts and players can mingle while keeping the festivities going, celebrating the winners and, yes, taking part in some good old-fashioned karaoke (Eve 6’s Inside Out is almost guaranteed to make an appearance).

If you’ve been to a Tournament of Champions, you’ll know what to expect. Engaging questions, a lively atmosphere, friends (both old and new), celebrations and fun. And if you’ve not yet experienced our bi-annual event, you might still join us for our winter spectacular. You can see how your team is performing, and if you’re in line to qualify here. Remember, your top six scores over this 10 week period are counted, so there’s still a chance to make the cut and take part in what is sure to be an epic day of trivia, music, bingo and fun!
